Part A – Stage 2: External Environment Analysis (DkIT & RMIT teams) 700 – 900 words - Part A – Stage 2 will be undertaken by mixed teams of DkIT and RMIT students. The purpose of this stage is to evaluate how the external environment of the target country influences the feasibility, opportunities, and risks associated with Ripe’s market entry into the assigned market (Singapore or Indonesia). - Part A – Stage 2 must be uploaded to Moodle by Friday, April 3rd at 5 pm (Ireland time). KEY REQUIREMENT: All analysis must focus on practical implications for Ripe’s business decisions, not general country descriptions. Indonesia is the chosen country for this assignment and the first part of this project is linked also Required sections for Part A – Stage 2: 1. Executive Summary (max. 200 words – Not included in the word count) Summarise the key findings and implications from both Stage 1 (Market Analysis) and Stage 2 (External Environment). This summary will later be expanded in the final report after Part B. 2. Political and Legal Issues (Formal Institutions) (approx. 150 words) Groups will need to evidence an understanding of the Political and Legal issues which their host country (Singapore or Indonesia) is currently facing. In addition, you should comment on issues that will directly affect Ripe - specific laws and government/industry regulations that the company will need to observe (for example, Occupational Health and Safety, Employment Law, Privacy Law, Liability regulations, Environmental Management) and other regional laws or regulations that you think will be important. • Regulatory, certification, and import compliance: o Import permit requirements, o Product registration regulations, o And halal certification expectations. Assess whether the absence of halal certification may affect market demand o Assess customs timelines and risk management for inspections and delays. 3. Environmental Issues (approx. 150 words) Groups will need to evidence an understanding of the Environmental issues which their host country is currently facing, and which might affect Ripe. Include weather, sustainability, and other environmental issues you think might affect the business. 4. Economic Issues (approx. 150 words) Groups will need to evidence an understanding of the Economic issues which their host country is currently facing, and which might affect Ripe. In addition, you should include comments about the host country’s wealth (GDP, GDP per capita), whether this is stable, increasing or declining and what affect this might have on expendable income. What is the rate of inflation and how might this affect the business? Provide some detail about the personal and corporate tax system and what affect this might have on the company and its key markets. What are the exchange rate trends and how might these affect the business? 5. Socio-cultural issues (Informal Institutions) (approx. 200 words) Groups will need to evidence an understanding of the Socio-Cultural issues and trends which the host country is currently facing, and which might affect Ripe. Think about immigration and the tastes and practices of different communities and age groups. 6. Technological (approx. 200 words) Groups will need to evidence an understanding of the Technological issues which the host country is currently facing, and which might affect Ripe. In addition, consider how technology can be used to communicate with customers and/or employees, what distribution technology will be required to store and deliver the product and to provide sales, technical and other support? • Distribution and cold-chain constraints o Assess cold-chain coverage and reliability by city o Storage infrastructure and power backup reliability, o Packaging requirements to manage heat, humidity, and potentially extended delivery lead times.
