I have an early-stage consumer product that now needs a professional mechanical design. The concept is fixed, so what I’m looking for is the full mechanical engineering package that takes the idea from rough sketches to a production-ready design. Scope of work • Turn my sketches and functional notes into a complete 3D CAD model (SolidWorks or similar). • Select appropriate materials and basic manufacturing processes with an eye on cost, strength, and user safety. • Create fully dimensioned drawings, tolerance call-outs, and an exploded assembly so a manufacturer can quote without guesswork. • Run light structural and fit-check analyses to confirm the parts will survive normal consumer handling. • Supply a clean STEP file, native CAD files, PDFs of drawings, and a simple bill of materials. Acceptance criteria 1. All parts mate correctly in the 3D assembly and can be opened by the latest SolidWorks viewer without errors. 2. Tolerances and finishes are called out on every critical feature. 3. Material choices reflect standard, easily sourced consumer-grade plastics or metals unless a justified alternative is proposed. 4. Deliverables pass a brief design review meeting (30-min video call) where you walk me through the model and drawing set. If you’re comfortable designing for injection-molded plastics, small fasteners, and everyday wear-and-tear, I’d love to see examples of previous consumer products you’ve engineered.
