Android VCam: Pre-Recorded Live

I need a seasoned Android developer to create a virtual camera that lets me play a pre-recorded video file as if it were a live feed. Once installed, the VCam should register at system level so any app that normally offers the “rear” or “front” camera can instead pick this virtual source. Core workflow I’m after: • Simple selector to choose or change the MP4/-MOV clip that will loop (or optionally stop at the end). • When chosen in a call, the video must stream smoothly at common resolutions (720p and 1080p) without noticeable latency. • Audio is not required—video-only is fine. It needs to work across the usual suspects—video-conferencing, social, and messaging apps—so please avoid hacks that only function inside a single package; it should present itself through the standard Android camera HAL/API layer. Deliverables • Signed APK ready for sideloading. • Full, well-commented source code and build instructions (Android Studio or compatible Gradle project). • Quick read-me explaining how to add additional clips in the future. Acceptance Criteria 1. After installing, the virtual camera appears alongside physical cameras in at least two mainstream apps during testing. 2. Selecting the VCam plays the chosen pre-recorded file in a continuous loop without crashing, freezing, or frame drops for a five-minute call. 3. Switching back to the physical camera and then again to the VCam works reliably. If you have prior experience building camera HAL layers, virtual webcams, or similar media-pipe solutions on Android, please outline it briefly when you respond.
