SolidWorks Redesign for Training Machine -- 2

Customer: AI | Published: 15.12.2025

I have a football training machine that already sells well, but I know it can perform better. I’ll share the existing SolidWorks assemblies, part files, photos, and field feedback; your job is to rethink the mechanism for cleaner, more reliable operation and add any smart tweaks that boost overall functionality. You will be working directly in SolidWorks, refining the current CAD to solve the pain-points I flag (gear wear, awkward adjustments, slow ball reloads, etc.). While looks and durability matter, the top priority is functional improvement that owners will instantly notice on the pitch. Deliverables • Updated 3D model in native SolidWorks format • Fully dimensioned manufacturing drawings ready for the shop floor • BOM with off-the-shelf components called out • Brief change log (PDF) explaining each functional upgrade Everything must dovetail with my existing footprint so tooling and molds stay unchanged wherever possible. If you see an opportunity that needs a bigger redesign, flag it early and we’ll decide together. I’m happy to answer detailed questions before you start to keep iterations to a minimum. ABOUT THE PROJECT Football Factory UK & Footpod.Club are building the world’s first fully autonomous AI football training pod, combining robotics, ball-launch technology, computer vision, LED target systems and AI-driven training intelligence. We are now hiring a Lead Systems Engineer to create the complete engineering documentation package required for manufacturing, including a version that will be sent to our Chinese OEM partners. This role requires experience across mechanical engineering, electrical systems, industrial product design, sensor integration, machine control, and the ability to translate a functional vision into a complete build-ready specification. --- WHAT YOU WILL DELIVER (CORE RESPONSIBILITIES) You will be responsible for producing one full engineering specification pack for the Footpod System A, covering all technical and structural details required for manufacturing. The deliverables include: 1. Mechanical Engineering Full pod layout and internal geometry for a 10m × 10m indoor training structure Detailed design of the modular sports performance lab–style steel frame Wall grid system comprising 60 panels (15 per wall, 5×3 layout) Top row: LED net-target panels (impact detection) Middle row: rebound panels except corners Bottom row: rebound panels except corners Mounting methods, tolerances, materials and access points Ball-machine enclosure design Panel replacement system and service access 2. Electrical & Control System Engineering Complete wiring diagrams Lighting and LED target power systems Sensor integration layout Communication protocol between mechanical systems and software Safety system design including emergency stops Structured cable-routing plan behind panel grid Power distribution and control cabinet layout 3. Ball Machine Integration Mechanical and electrical requirements for: Pan/tilt system Speed control (15–90 km/h) Accuracy control across all 60 panel zones Feeding mechanism (40–60 ball hopper) CAD alignment to pod geometry 4. Camera & Sensor System Placement, FOV, mounting and vibration isolation Camera spec confirmation (1080p 60fps) Integration with AI vision system 5. Software & AI System Specification You do NOT need to build the AI yourself, but you must specify: Software architecture that the Chinese OEM will follow Sensor → Controller → AI → LED/Target workflow Interaction between touch screen, drills, ball machine and LEDs Cloud platform structure for data storage and remote updates API endpoints and data flow diagrams 6. Full Manufacturing Spec Pack (Primary Deliverable) You will compile one master technical document that includes: Mechanical drawings Electrical schematics System architecture Wiring maps CAD visualisations BOM (Bill of Materials) outline Structural instructions Component placement diagrams Testing and certification requirements A final “factory-ready” version structured specifically for Chinese OEMs This final pack must be clear, structured, and ready for direct handover to the selected factory. --- SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Strong background in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or industrial automation Experience with multi-system products: robotics + sensors + software Knowledge of LED signalling systems, impact sensors, multi-panel grid structures Ability to produce CAD drawings and full engineering schematics Experience designing for manufacturing, ideally with Asian OEM factories Ability to specify hardware–software communication (PLC/IPC/API) Strong documentation skills — clarity, precision, technical accuracy Experience in sports technology (bonus but not required) Must be able to work fast and deliver structured outputs Must be able to produce high quality sketches --- YOUR END OUTPUT You will produce: 1. A complete engineering blueprint for Footpod System A 2. A clean manufacturing specification to send to Chinese factories 3. All diagrams, schematics, CAD layouts and wiring maps 4. A full pack ready for prototype production This role is delivery-based, not time-based. Payment milestones will be structured around outputs. --- HOW TO APPLY Please send: Portfolio or previous engineering work Experience with relevant projects Your proposed timeline and estimated cost for the full spec pack Any initial questions regarding the Footpod System A
