Consulting project for senior devops engineer, initial project 20 to 40 hours Initially, we are looking for an independent review of our current setup, with recommendations on how to improve overall efficiency, reliability, and long-term stability of our network. Following that initial review, the successful candidate may continue in an advisory role on an as-needed basis. Generally speaking, for international applicants, we require some crossover (a minimum of 2 hours per weekday) with USA hours (USA Central – Chicago or USA Eastern – New York). Most communication is done via Slack or via Freelancer Chat. Background Info: CargoTel operates a bare metal server and network environment, hosted by an enterprise class data center located in the USA. We use a blend of powerful servers using the Rocky Linux 9 OS. We seek expertise to assist us in maximizing the potential of our network using the following tools: • Nomad Clusters • Docker • OSM Stacks • Self hosted Gitlab • Minion • IBM Sentry (optional) • NFS • Wazuh (optional) Required Skills or Background: • Minimum 7 years of experience designing and managing servers and networks. Great familiarity with server hardware and network components, bandwidth, throughput, server load, and other key metrics • 4 year or advanced degree in an IT-related field from a reputable university • Expert knowledge of clusters, especially using Nomad • Expert knowledge of containers and NFS • Excellent written and verbal communications in the English language is an absolute requirement Bonus Skills or Background: • Monitoring tools (like Zabbix, Grafana, IBM Sentry) • Knowledge of Perl, PostGreSQL, or Python • API’s / Integration • GitLab usage and/or administration • Certifications in any of the above areas
