High-Traffic Commerce App Scaling

Our TikTok-style commerce platform is already live on both iOS and Android, powered by a Laravel backend and running on Alibaba Cloud. Daily we handle live shopping streams, real-time chat, in-app payments, and logistics tracking, and our user base is moving from the hundreds of thousands toward the million-plus mark. To stay ahead of that growth I’m restructuring the entire infrastructure and codebase for true horizontal scale, bullet-proof uptime, and lightning performance. Here is the current landscape you’ll step into: • Native iOS & Android codebases that need profiling, refactoring where necessary, and tighter CI/CD. • A Laravel monolith that must be modularised, cached with Redis, and tuned for very high concurrency. • PostgreSQL instances approaching their limits; we’re ready for partitioning, read replicas, and autoscaling. • Alibaba Cloud services (ECS, RDS, OSS, SLB) underpin everything, though I’m open to architectural suggestions, even hybrid or multi-cloud, if they offer measurable benefit. • Real-time websockets for live video, chat, notifications, and rider tracking that have to stay sub-second under load. What I need from you 1. A full-stack mindset: you’re equally comfortable diving into Swift/Kotlin as optimising Laravel queues. 2. Demonstrable wins on apps with at least six-figure DAUs where you solved scaling or performance pain. 3. A plan to harden the backend—caching layers, queue workers, CDN strategy, blue-green deployments, robust monitoring—and articulate clear milestones for each phase. 4. Daily collaboration via screen-share; I like to see code, architecture diagrams, and live metrics together. Acceptance criteria will revolve around measurable KPIs: P95 API latency <150 ms under 10 k rps, stream start-up times <2 s for 100 k concurrent viewers, 99.99 % uptime over a 30-day window, and seamless rollback capability. If you’re serious, committed, and ready for a long-term partnership with plenty of green-field growth ahead, let’s talk architecture right away.
