Overview We operate BroadwayandMain.com, a platform that tracks theatrical productions across the United States. Currently, we manually visit 480 professional theater websites to check whether they have posted new shows. We want to automate this process. I am looking for an experienced developer who can build a system that monitors a list of ~480 URLs and alerts us whenever any of these websites have been updated. We do not require detailed scraping of event listings for Phase 1 – only reliable detection that “something on the site has changed,” so we can visit manually and grab the information we need. ⸻ Scope of Work (MVP) 1. Monitor ~480 Theater Websites • System checks each URL on a scheduled frequency (daily or weekly). • Ability to add/remove URLs easily. 2. Detect Meaningful Website Changes Because every theater website has a different layout, the system should use: • DOM/content hashing • Smart diffing (avoiding false alerts from ads, cookie popups, dynamic sections) • Optional sitemap/RSS monitoring when available We only need to know that the website has changed, not extract the show info. 3. Alerts When a change is detected: • Send an email notification • OR show a flag in a simple dashboard • Include timestamp + which site changed 4. Dashboard (Simple Admin Panel) • List of all theaters • Status: Changed / No changes • Last checked timestamp • Manual “Refresh Check” option
