My production server already runs smoothly, but it’s falling behind on patches and package versions, appears to have suspicious activities nd needs hardening. I’m looking for an experienced Linux engineer whose main focus will be system maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates on this fully functional machine. Your tasks include applying the latest security patches, upgrading all relevant packages, removing orphaned dependencies, and making sure every critical service comes back online without noticeable downtime. 2 applications are hosted on the Shared Hosted machine and they need to run. There appears to be some suspicious activities over some ports and we need investigation and hardening of those. We also need install of remote desktop (Anydesk or RustDesk) to allow for eacy access for us. Comfort with apt / yum, systemd, bash scripting, and cron is important because those are the standard tools in place. SSH access via a temporary sudo-enabled account will be provided. If you are meticulous about precautions and clear documentation, we’ll be a great fit. Work needs to be done asap and should not be more than 1 hour total for now.
