I need a mobile application that faithfully reproduces Instagram’s Direct Messaging experience—one-on-one chat, group threads, read receipts, media attachments, emoji reactions, the familiar swipe interface—without the rest of the Instagram feed, stories, or discovery features. Think of it as a clean, stand-alone DM client that looks and feels instantly familiar to users who already know Instagram. You are free to choose the tech stack you feel delivers the snappiest real-time performance: React Native, Flutter, native Swift/Kotlin, or another robust cross-platform framework. What matters to me is that messages sync in real time through a scalable backend (Firebase, Supabase, AWS Amplify, or your preferred alternative) and that the UI mirrors Instagram’s current look closely enough that users can hop in and start chatting without a learning curve. Core expectations • Seamless sign-up / login via email, phone, or social OAuth • Real-time messaging (text, photos, videos, voice notes, emojis, GIFs) • Group chat creation & management • Swipe-to-reply, double-tap to like, message status indicators • Push notifications while respecting device-level privacy settings • Basic profile page with avatar, username, and status • Secure data handling: end-to-end encryption or best-practice transport encryption Deliverables 1. Source code with clear modular structure and in-line comments 2. Working builds ready to install on current iOS and Android versions (TestFlight / APK) 3. Simple admin or dashboard panel to view active users and chats 4. Setup guide so I can deploy the backend and publish future updates myself Acceptance criteria I will test sign-up, message speed, media upload, group creation, reaction gestures, and notification reliability on both major mobile OS versions. All tests must pass without crashes or noticeable lag. If you’ve built chat or social apps before, please mention them and the tech you used. I’m eager to get started as soon as we agree on timelines and milestones, and I’ll be available for quick feedback throughout the build.
