We are seeking a Freelance 3D Cartoon Character Modeler to create stylized, mid-poly characters that include basic fur or hair geometry. The fixed rate remains $100 USD per finished model, so candidates must be proficient in efficient, non-procedural fur modeling techniques. Scope & Expectations (Mid-Poly with Fur): The payment of $100 per model covers the following specific deliverables for one character: Mid-Poly Model: The core character mesh must be clean and optimized for animation. Fur/Hair Geometry: Fur must be modeled using simple, non-overlapping polygonal shells, sculpted tufts, or stylized chunks that are part of the mesh. The geometry should capture the silhouette and main flow of the fur, relying on the texture work (to be done by our team or included in the bonus skills below) for the fine detail. Clean Topology & UVs: Clean, quad-based topology and non-overlapping UV layout are required for both the character and the fur sections. Deliverable: A clean, untextured mesh (e.g., .FBX or .OBJ format). Revisions: One round of minor revisions on the model is included. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in modeling stylized characters with sculpted fur geometry. Your portfolio must clearly show examples of characters with fur/hair that is modeled, not procedural. Expert proficiency in 3D modeling software (Blender, Maya, ZBrush, etc.). Strong understanding of topology for animation and deformation. Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet the volume requirements of a $100 per-model rate. Bonus Skills (A plus, but negotiable for additional pay): Ability to create a hand-painted or simple procedural texture map for the fur and character to define color and lighting detail. (This can be offered as a separate, small fee on top of the $100).
