I’m ready to commission the first release of the Scand File Editor, focused purely on text. The two must-have capabilities are a fast, reliable Search & Replace engine and clean syntax highlighting for popular programming and markup languages. Everything else can wait for later versions. The editor has to run smoothly on both Windows and macOS. I’m flexible about the toolkit—Electron, Qt, Flutter, or another cross-platform framework—so long as the final apps feel native, launch quickly, and can be packaged into standard installers (.exe and .dmg).
