I'm looking for a skilled metalworking tool design expert to create a metal circular saw specifically for cutting aluminum. This tool will be used for personal projects. Requirements: - Ability to design a robust and efficient metal circular saw - Experience with tools specifically for cutting aluminum - Knowledge of safety features and ergonomic design - High-quality materials and durability are a must Ideal Skills and Experience: - Background in mechanical engineering or industrial design - Proven experience in designing cutting tools - Strong attention to detail and safety standards Please include a detailed project proposal in your application. Metal Circular Saw Cutting Process: Cold cutting process. Semi-finished products: Square material up to 40x40mm. Workpiece clamping: The mechanical workpiece clamping must be pneumatically assisted (pay attention to a burr-free cut). Lubrication: Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) is required. Maintenance: Cleaning and maintenance possibilities must be taken into account (e.g., fast saw blade change). Speeds: Two rotational speed stages are required for aluminum and steel. Miter cuts: Miter cut 0-45° with locking mechanisms at 0° and 45°. Workpiece stop: Workpiece stop steplessly adjustable up to 200mm. Compliance: The machine must comply with current accident prevention regulations (UVV) and machinery directives. Components: Pre-manufactured standard parts may be used. Safety: An operating manual must be included for safe operation. Image 10 (Page 2) - Deliverables by April 10, 2026 Create by April 10, 2026 In simple hardcopy form (i.e., one ring binder with a complete set of documentation), a clearly numbered set of drawings and documentation containing: Assembly drawing. Detail drawing (Individual part drawing). Sub-assembly drawing. Measurement log for one component with at least five meaningful dimensions. Complete parts list (BOM) including: Indication of cutting or raw dimensions, dimensions for standard parts, DIN numbers, material designations, geometrical tolerances (GD&T), hardness and surface specifications, as well as surface treatments (e.g., coatings). Determination of manufacturing costs, plus a total cost calculation with all costs, incorporating purchased parts for the finished metal circular saw. Machine hour rates and labor costs are to be determined by you. Time calculation for all parts, plus a total time specification. These must be filed in the binder before the drawing set. Drawings must be created in DIN A3/A4, lists in DIN A4. In the ring binder, these must be neatly folded according to DIN standard and filed without clear plastic sleeves. Use standard-compliant machining symbols. Every drawing must be labeled with your name, your clearly legible examination number, and the date. The ring binder must be submitted before the design review meeting. This will remain with the MPA (Master Examination Committee). Create a change log by the time of the technical discussion and bring it with you to that appointment. Image 11 (Page 3) - Deliverables April 6, 2026 Upload by April 6, 2026, 11:59 PM The complete assembly must be uploaded as a STEP file. Page 3 of 5 Image 12 (Page 4) - Manufacturing Notes Notes on manufacturing For the three examination days in the workshop of the BiA Singen, you must select as many of your parts from your given time calculations as you can manufacture in 24 hours. Also take into account your assembly time! This must be stated separately and must be taken into account by you in your total time calculation for the three examination days. No pre-assembled units may be brought to the examination. Decide for yourself which parts you will manufacture in the three examination days at the Singen Education Academy. Ensure a balanced selection of milled and turned parts and take into account the machinery available at BiA Singen. The examination board reserves the right to review and possibly make changes to the selection of parts, as well as, if necessary, increase or reduce the quantity of parts to be manufactured. You, as the examinee, are solely responsible for the timely procurement of raw materials and purchased parts. When submitting the project, the completed measurement log, which was already prepared for design approval, must be attached. The machine designed and manufactured by you must be a unique piece and must possess unique selling propositions (Alleinstellungsmerkmale)! It must therefore not be a copy of commercially available machines or of fellow master colleagues!
